Introduction

The F.A.C.E. hackathon is a challenge designed by Sightcorp which is intended to motivate developers and other creative minds to build smart applications using the technologies from Sightcorp. Participants are allowed to create desktop, mobile and online-based applications using the F.A.C.E. API, the InSight SDK or the CrowdSight SDK from Sightcorp.  The purpose of this contest is to create and submit an app prototype for your field of interest: gaming, user experience, market research, advertisement, narrowcasting, authentication, monitoring, research, clinical and more.

 

Eligibility
  • All participants must be 18 years old of age or older.  
  • You can participate in the event as an individual or a team of up to 5 members.  
  • Registration is per person, but you will be asked to identify your team if you have one.
  • Teams can be made up of students or developers. Also, company teams can apply if the company size is not bigger that 50 employees.
  • Eligible applicants must be a team or individual that is physically present at the duration of the event and substantially contributed to the submitted project during the event.
  • You must submit your application prototype by Sunday, 21st of September at 6 pm in order to be considered for the prize.  
  • You must be selected as a participant.  
  • You and your project must comply with the Project Requirements.

 

Entry
Registration and Agreement to Terms and Conditions
  • Participants must create a “ChallengePost” account on the Challenge website or another site on http://challengepost.com.
  • Participants must agree to these Terms and Conditions and comply with all terms and relevant laws applicable to Participants.  
  • Participants must click on the button "Register for this Hackathon" on our F.A.C.E. ChallengePost page in order to be eligible. 
Submission of the application
  • Participant teams or individual must be physically present at the duration of the event and submit the projects on the spot, meeting the defined deadline.
  • Applications must have English language support. (You are free to add versions in other languages.)
  • Entries, including the Application, cannot violate the intellectual property rights, reputation, privacy or any other rights of Sightcorp or a third party, have obscene or violent content or contain any other material that violates relevant laws or undermines public order and morality.
  • No online submissions are considered.

First Place:

Requirements and Rules
  • The participants retain full ownership of the code they write at the hackathon. 
  • Participants acknowledge and agree that, by submitting their Entry, the related Intellectual Property becomes public domain. Therefore, Sightcorp waives any responsability over the use of the Intellectual Property of the Entry by third parties.
  • By entering the Challenge, the participant shall grant to Sightcorp a royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable, worldwide, and perpetual license to display publicly and use the Entry for promotional purposes. This license includes, but is not limited to, posting or linking to the Entry on Sightcorp website and applications, and display and promotion of the Entry in any other media, worldwide. The name or nickname of the participant will not be displayed for the advertisement and promotion of the Challenge or Sightcorp.  
  • The application must integrate with Sightcorp technologies: InSight SDK, CrowdSight SDK or F.A.C.E. API. 
  • Applications can be built for the following platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android  
  • Each Contestant will be required to provide the following as part of the submission: 1. A demonstration video that showcases the functionality of the app 2. Text description that explains the features and functionality of the Application 3. An image showing screenshots of your working app.  
  • Projects must be your own (your team's) and must respect all copyright, trademark, and IP of any API's or sources of code/content that you incorporate. You and your team are solely responsible for not violating any IP ownership/usage rights.  
  • You are allowed to plan your project, but you can’t work on it before the hackathon begins (which is officially at 11am on Saturday, September 20th)  
  • Your project cannot have been selected as a winner in another contest.
  • You can’t steal another team’s source code
  • Note that Sightcorp reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event, if the required minimum number of groups and participants is not reached. This limit is set to a minimum of 15 people and 4 different groups.

 

Warranty and indemnity
  • As the sole and exclusive owner of the entries, Participants shall warrant that they will not infringe any rights of the third party including portrait rights, moral rights, design rights, patent rights, utility model rights, copyrights, program copyrights and trade secrets.  
  • “Sightcorp” and “ChallengePost” do not have the responsibility to intervene in any dispute regarding an entry to the Challenge between a Participant and a third party. Such matters are wholly the responsibility of the individuals concerned and “Sightcorp” and “ChallengePost” cannot be held responsible or accountable in any way.  
  • If a participant violates these Terms or relevant laws and a dispute against Sightcorp arises or is likely to arise, the participant (all team members for team participants, the corporation as a whole for corporate participants) shall defend “Sightcorp” at their own expense and responsibility, compensate “Sightcorp” for any losses suffered by “Sightcorp” as a result and take all appropriate measures requested by “Sightcorp” in relation to the event.    
  • We, in our sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any project containing racial, religious, or ethnic slurs, explicit language, obscene, pornographic, violent, or sexual content, or libel, hate speech, references to alcohol, drugs or other illicit substances, or otherwise objectionable, offensive, illegal, inappropriate or prohibited material.
